Dev's Birthday and a Last Minute Visit from Mom

This week our big bro (okay, he's MY big bro) turned 29! And I had to remind him that, no, he wasn't turning 28 as he thought, it was in fact 29. Poor guy, he really IS busy up there at Yale! And since the sis works on weeknights, the only time to celebrate was sunday night. We had as many family members over as possible. Lots of fun with decorations, bubbles, and a few intense games of Uno. (Girls vs guys, but the stakes, which were "loser does dishes" went out the door because I did the dishes even though the girls won) Here's a few choice pics from the party.......

Then on Thursday, I talked to my mom and told her that Dev and I were going to a midnight showing of the new X-Files movie, and, hey, wouldn't it be a great idea if she hopped in the car and came down for a few days? So she got here just in time for the movie, and stayed until yesterday. We got a chance to go out in to the county and snap some photos of the beautiful farming area which I live in. We also visited some yard sales and antique shops. These wonderful and unplanned weekends just keep happening! Don't worry, I'm getting my sleep!

Impromtu Keith Urban/Kenny Chesney concert

So Amanda called me on friday with an offer not to be refused. She asked if I would like to go to a Kenny Chesney concert? Well, I'm not really a Chesney fan, but she also mentioned that Keith Urban would be performing (whom I LOVE) as well as LeAnn Rimes. "Well," I thought, "I really wanted to just do nothing this weekend because I've been so busy for a month straight. But who can pass up that offer?" So I said yes, and yesterday, we went. This was SO not what I expected! I thought we'd see a few songs from each of these performers, but found out that not only was it all these singers, but that they were all going to perform a full length concert each! It was an all-day event. And, yes, it was extremely hot day/evening/night in Philadelphia, but that bothered us not-the friend that gave us the tickets has a suite at the Licoln Financial Center, so we got to sit in a catered room and watch the whole thing. It was amazing!!! That is the only word I have for it. I don't think I've ever screamed so hard or jumped so high. Keith is extremely gorgeous in real life. Maybe I'll get my rest next weekend, but I wasn't at all sorry to miss it yesterday.

Me and Amanda in front of the tens of thousands in the crowd. (I think LeAnn Rimes was performing in this shot)

Summer Fun in the Sun

A day trip to the beach was on the agenda for this weekend, only not as we had expected. See, all THREE of us girls were supposed to go, but Amanda B had to work, so Amanda M and I decided we'd join the YSA group that was headed to Ocean City MD this weekend. As anyone who knows us is already aware, Amanda and I aren't much for YSA events, mostly because a great majority of the people in our stake YSA group are 18 or 19. But we went anyway, and managed to have a great time. Amanda lost her glasses (I won't rub it in, but why would anyone go into the water with their glasses on? Heehee, love you, Manda!) But after being thrown around by some VERY monterous waves, we got into the ocean fun of things. The waves are extreme right now, apparently, according to my dad, because of the hurricane off shore? But it made for some extreme swimming! I think these photos speak for themselves!

fourth of july weekend

This fourth of July kind of went on forever since it was on a friday. The entire weekend was spent enjoying our nation's birthday. On friday, I went with my client, Melissa, and her mom up to their family's cabin. We had a quiet night that evening. The next day, Carol and I went to a pottery shop that was a renovated mill from the 1800s. I bought a cute little vase and picked some wild daisies to put in it! Then we saw a sign for cherry picking and thought "why not?" and so followed my first experience with cherry picking. The next day we came home, and back in good ol' Lancaster, we had the big fireworks show at Long's Park with the whole family. Happy Birthday America! Does anyone need a cone THAT BIG? Finally found my pot! Pickin' cherries. Our loot. Life is just a bowl full of..... Me and Mel "roughin' it" in the mountains. This is what I look like after a weekend among the beasts in the woods. Dev and Grandma wait for the festivities to begin. Dad and Tracy talk to friends and family. Aunt Sherma and Uncle David humor me with a smile. Me and Addison My BFFs The Gals!

Gone Fishing

Monique sent me these pictures of Rees and Nicolette fishing for the first time. And guess where they were??? Rainbow Lake! For those of you who didn't know me back then, I grew up on Rainbow Lake. It was almost tear-jerking to see the kids on the same lake that we, as kids, used to play at with our dog, princess. Enjoy the pics! Aren't they adorable? (as always, but then, as auntie, I'm a little biased)
